This is to notify you of an incident that was reported this morning in our school neighborhood. At approximately 7:40 a.m. in the vicinity of San Marcos Way and San Marino Street, a student reported that while he was waiting for the school bus, he was approached by an older white adult male in an older model red/orange Jeep Wrangler with rust, who motioned him to the vehicle and asked if he wanted a ride. When the school bus arrived, the jeep took off and the student got on the bus and reported the incident to the bus driver. The incident was reported to the school office and the police were called. They took an account of the incident and will increase patrols in the area.
Today, all classroom teachers have reviewed personal safety and stranger danger procedures with students in their classrooms as one step to help ensure the continued safety of all of our students. This is a timely reminder for families to review safety procedures at home with their children. Information about stranger danger can be found on the District website at www.cesd.us under the “Students & Parents/Community Resources” tab.
Student safety is a priority for all of us in the Centralia School District. We thank you for partnering with us to educate your child in personal safety.
